A new work combining painting and assemblage. In a collage manner of working the wooden parts make an alternative “frame” as well as an second layer to the whole image. As my works often needs a certain time to come together, maybe interesting to mention is that the base of this painting comes from a painted canvas (dates 2008) in red and yellow stains that I never finished but in this work has found its place. To me the work reflects a dreamy interpretation of roofs and windows in a red sky.

From a photo to a artwork. A landscape I walked through last summer when I was in Denmark. It’s the park around the ‘Augustenburg’ estate. I was struck by the effect of the large trees and shadows surrounding the path that surrounds the castle. I didn’t want to reproduce the photo one on one, but I kept an certain impression in my head during the creation of this work. Combined from found pieces of wood and added panels and rest materials. It has become a combination of abstract, a bit impressionistic and best figurative for me. Sometimes you can’t avoid a tree.

August Robin Peters 2022 – What is your D.N.A. ? – Mixed media
This installation is made of 25 compositions on cardboard boxes, made between 2020 and 2022. The method of making and the ingredients are the same. The outcome is very different and variable. It made me think of the human D.N.A. How we all are made of the same but differ so much from each other.
Composition with packaging box No. 31, No. 32 & No. 34 – Cardboard, paint, paper and wood – August Robin Peters – 2020/2022 (This work is sold)
In this work I realized a new composition existing out of individual pieces which are combined together to create a new image. The frame is made of old left-over pieces of wood and combined with new parts.
The frame that is holding the 3 boxes and 1 little one is constructed to accommodate the composition boxes, which are commutable, because you can simply pull them out and change them for another and make your own combination. The shape and design are inspired on fruit and vegetables baskets as you see them presented in markets or grocery stores.
I wanted to emphasize the heritage of the painted boxes which are made of packaging materials coming from the world of consuming.

Painting on paper – Acryl and collage on heavy paper. 50x65cm. August Robin Peters. February 2022.
During a stay in the early spring of 2021 in Ameland, I made some little drawings of the house I was staying. The holiday house was simple and basically an archetype of what a house is. A space with room for a lot of basic functions. The surroundings are so important when you’re staying on one of these Dutch “waddeneilanden” situated in the north of The Netherlands. It’s almost as if the house is a synonym for the resting mind, so open to everything you see or hear to come in and go out the house, like a breeze, a thought, almost working as a sponge. I tried to captured that feeling in this work. All the windows and see through elements and abstractions make the subject becoming more that just a house in an envirioment. It is a playful way of portraying a house.

‘Good Intentions’ 30x40cm. Wood, cardboard, polyurethaan, paint. August Robin Peters 11/2021
A deconstruction op a ‘verspakket’ packaging. Through working with packaging boxes for my small compositions, this one came out parallel during the proces of making. A very old and not finished painting on a wooden panel became the background for this non narrative work. it is the first time that I used the packaging on a non dimensional scale, in spite of good intentions the black ‘ribbon’ made it 3-dimension again, because I felt it worked too strong not to be part of it.
