In kunstencentrum K38 is vanaf zaterdag 11 april de expositie ‘Hoofd in de wolken’ te zien. Georganiseerd door Verkuno. Deelnemende kunstenaars van dit collectief zijn gevraagd een reflectie te geven op dit thema en enkele gast kunstenaars zijn middels een open call geselecteerd om mee te doen. Mijn hangende papieren sculptuur ‘News cloud’ (2025) werd geselecteerd en is daar te midden van alle andere werken te zien tot en met 10 mei 2026. Kanaalstraat 38, Roden.

Wintersalon
Art exhibition, Beeldende Kunst, Contemporary ArtVan 25 januari t/m 8 maart 2026 wordt de Wintersalon georganiseerd door Pictura Groningen aan de St.Walburgstraat 1. De expositie met werk van ongeveer 30 kunstenaars is te bezoeken op woensdag t/m zondag van 13.00 tot 17.00. Deze onderstaande twee werken van mij zijn geselecteerd en daar te zien. De expositie is met één week verlengd tot en met 15 maart.

I was asked to think about a wish for the future to create or generate a more harmonious environment in which we all live and have to deal with eachothers behavior. My reaction to this question happened quite instinctively and I came up with this protest about using language more carefully.

Landscape of tolerance

Landscape of tolerance originated from the desire to create a spatial representation. In the research, shapes were created that remain abstract but want to be figurative. When is an object accepted as a representation? Shapes are enlarged, stacked and hung loosely in space. The painting on cardboard were created by chance out of left-overs. Organized in a patch work manner and directed into a abstract form. Newspapers are painted; some fragments dissapear, other receive attention. The paper is stacked with news which become part of the layering and can not be seen as neutral anymore. Newspapers are sewn together, the thread makes the construction visable. The stacked boxes balance but take up space and hold their ground. Have we entered the setting of a play, with players about to enter the stage?
Project at Kel_30 ‘Go your own way’
Art exhibition, Beeldende Kunst, Contemporary Art, installation art, Object art, Paper Art, SculptureFor the project at the art centre Kel_30 in Haren, I worked on location at the exhibition space for more than 3 weeks at my art installation. The end result is now on display. The show is to be visited from 12.00 – 17.00 on saturday 31 may, sunday 1 June and saturday 7 June at ‘ Kel_30, part of the De Biotoop, Kerklaan 30 in Haren, Groningen.
The idea and challenge for me was to make a sculptural work in a experimental setting, which had to have the right size for the space provided. The starting point for me was to go from a 2 dimensional work into a 3 dimensional installation. Using my materials like cardboard and newspaper, wood and paint in the same collage-like way as I do in my normaly smaller sized works.

Kind of Mosaic

This abstract artwork almost made itself, the only thing I did was to organize the order. Just like a piece of mosaic. Putting left-over cut-out cardboard strips. Which came from cutting off strips from another older painting on cardboard. By puzzling the pieces afther each other, I could play with the rhythm of the colors and forms/stains and at the same time take control. The image created is still abstract, but to me, it tends to give a little bit of a botanical feel to it, without actually being a figurative image of such.
